39u paint
Dealers or painters Please fill me in because I have no clue.
When one takes their car in to be re-painted does the dealer match the paint, or put in a paint code (39U) and what comes up? Does it tell them how to make it, what mixture of colors to use and how much metal flake?
If there is a mixture spec sheet on this color can someone post it or PM me

I would like to know the answer to your question also.
I believe most tend to match and blend due to oxidation.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I forgot! I talked to my body shop manager, he told me that the paint guys get the mix sheet from a computer program based on the WA number of the paint code. From there they mix paint and do sample shoots while mixing in metallic if needed. he went on and on and on and honestly... i forget most of what he said... Damn I feel like such a regular GIRL!
Long Story Short, 99% of auto paint in body shops are mixed by hand... at least that is what I was told.

When I got my fenders done, they used the code 80U as a starting point and then adjusted to match based on my car.

Yeah usually the paint code will list the color, but a lot of time they're will be different variants of that color - slight tweaks through-out production, different assembly plants, etc. I would imagine in the G8's case there's not many variants, if any.
