I think if you are happy with your tuner, go with what they know. I use HPTuners because my tuner (Rick Crawford) uses it. I know Pat G uses EFI but also HPTuners.

Only big selling point are the updates if you need them. I'm not sure what's what right now because I'm a poor man but I know there was a lot that HP tuners had out for the new direct injection gm stuff that efi later released. As well as the new Mustang platform. Something like that anyway. If your not worried about that stuff they both do the job. I have heard there is more that can be done with efi but that's for the more technical guys.
And I would assume HP is easier to learn just for the fact there are more users on the support forum.
As far as shops go most seem to use HP and I was told it's because the lower price for unlimited credits.
But I'm not an expert. This is just my understanding of it all.

I went with HPTuners because of the wealth of knowledge and the community on their forums. I'm pretty new to tuning with HPtuners but with the support and info out there it has been pretty easy to pick up and learn. Also all the tuners I know local to me use HPTuners. I read EFIlive and HPtuners are pretty equal as far as tuning and features go. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
