Default Installed new Camaro 327 Diff and BMR suspension

Last week I had a friend install my new 327 Camaro diff and BMR bushings and Sway Bar, Trailing Arms, Toe Rods. I am waiting on a few other parts from BMR to complete the rear upgrade. But my car feels like a whole new car. My installer also happens to be a very good HP tuner so we had the whole job installed and tuned in about 5 hours. The tires chirp all the way into forth gear and the car seems faster to me. The best thing is the installer also has a G8 with the same Diff so he is always fine tuning his trans so if there is any new ways to make it any better I will get a update. I am hoping to get to the track in a few weeks with him on a test and tune day to really dial in for the track. I would say one of my favorite mods to date so far and well worth the money. Next is next wheels and tires and then a cam and stall converter. We are working on a step by step write up with pictures and I will post when we are done.

One side effect of running 3.27s though is if you were hanging on to third at the end of the quarter mile you can forget that. With my heavy duty valve train I was shifting at 7K and hanging on to third. Even shifting at 7K now with the 3.27s I have to shift into 4th. My times did not improve with the 3.27s due to the extra shift. If you have a ton of horsepower then maybe you can cross at a high rpm in 4th and the 3.27s will work out great.

I am hoping we have everything figures out on the trans tune. My tuner also has the same car and same mods as me so every time he fixes something I get a update. I do like the chirping tires all the way to 4th. Not much of a track guy anyhow and hope to be in the mid 400 hp in the next few months as well.

Glad to hear that you like the gears. I'm pretty sure that is the next mod for my PSM as well. Already have the BMR bushings laying on my workbench.

I know that most are not concerned with fuel economy but just for the heck of it i'll ask. Have you seen a noticeable difference in fuel economy after installing the gears? I know that it is probably harder to keep out of the throttle now but just wondering if anyone had taken some medium distance trips to get an accurate read on MPG.

I obviously know it will be worse, just wondering how much.

I don't think the 3.27 will make much difference. I see guys all the time post better mileage than I get, and they have more mods and gears.

Most of my time is spent driving around town so I only get about 12 - 14 miles per gallon. I do drive it like I stole it so I am sure it my fault. We have my trans tuned in so well the car chirps the tires all the way to 4th even with my 285/30/20s.

Hey bill, did you order the diff new or get it from a scrap yard? Also, on a scale of 1-10 how difficult would you rate the install? I've got a Vararam intake, and Doug Thorley 1 3/4" LT's. I'll be ordering a full Corsa system soon, along with heads and cam. I'm thinking 3.27 would be perfect with those mods, putting down around 450. Thanks!
