    Default VIR North Course

I did a track event yesterday with Tarheel Sports Car Club at VIR North Course. The car performed flawlessly with the upgraded Rick Crawford 6l80E mods and accompanying tune! I was very tired unfortunately so it was not my best day there for sure but I learned a bunch, had a good time and returned with me and the car without any damage which is always priority one! Here's the video from the last session of the day which was my best. I'm running in the green (novice) group. Sorry the video's long as I haven't taken the time to edit it but if you want to take a look, here it is:

2009 Hot White G8 GT, CTS-V v1 fronts, Camaro 20's, BMR Sways, Eibach Springs, Rear Cradle bushings. GXP FE3's, BMR rear susp. Kooks 1 7/8 LT headers, RCR custom 3” exhaust, ported LSA blower, 2.38 pulley; Ported heads and TB; LS7 MAF, Racetec pistons, Scat rods, CTS-V crank; FAST 85 injectors; RCR Lunati cam: 223/238 .615/.601, 116 +2 LSA. CTS-V pump/VaporWorx cntlr. Built trans, Methanol injection. Rick Crawford built and tuned. Best 1/4 9.68 @142, 1.42 60'.

It was $250 for one day or $450 for Saturday and Sunday. You have to have a tech inspection which you can get at Performance Chassis in Cary for $15 if memory serves me correctly. You have to have a helmet and have changed your brake fluid in the last 90 days...that's it! I'm looking at doing another event there June 9-10 with TrackDaze (https://www.trackdaze.com/index.php?...temid=0&did=30) which is the Full course. The cost for those two days is $399. Full Course at VIR is different from North Course as it's longer and has a long straight which is lots of fun with these high horsepower cars.

Glad the trans with the "right upgrade" is holding up and shifting great. Although, I think we pushed it hard on the back roads than you did at the track...just sayin'.....

Thanks Rick; I think you are right as far as which was harder on the trans! Hopefully my next session, I'll be rested and will give it a stronger test!

Nice, Doug! Some nice lines through those corners, too! Man, you dive DEEP into turn 1 before cutting the wheel.

It is amazing how well these cars do on track, actually, for all their weight. A few suspension mods and they'll tear it up.

Upon watching this video, I do hate that I missed this. It would've been good to intentionally run a different configuration of VIR, just to have to learn a "new" track.

Yes. You must. IT IS YOUR DESTINY.

... OK, maybe not, but you do need to go to one.

And my tune did great back in February. The car threw fewer codes than it did on the stock tune! Which is to say I only got a CEL on track that went away instead of a sticky P0300 misfire like last time.

They do perform well. I do like to turn in late; unfortunately I only got the proper track out on turn one two or three times on that session so I left time on the track. I am such a rookie! There was a yellow Ford Fiesta that passed me every time he was on a session which I think was three of them; I kept wondering who that was and why he kept showing up in my mirror. Later I found out it was the classroom instructor! He could absolutely drive that thing! Horsepower can make up for many mistakes but a really good driver is really fast around the track!
