Well guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. Although I'm not a cat lover I'm not really interested in killing the cat, so the poison /.22 is out. I may look at the airsoft, and the ultrasonic noise maker. I've also done some researching and found that most cats don't like citronella or pepper spray so I could just try spraying some of that around the car and see if that helps.

I just think it's really wrong headed and inconsiderate that someone will not keep their pets in the house. I mean seriously, if my dogs start barking I bring them in. I don't let them shit on someone else's lawn...

As far as talking to the neighbor, if that goes badly and something does happen to the cat, then I'm #1 on the 'shitlist'. Damn them for putting me in this position.

Agreed! We have a neighbor couple that are deaf. They don't go to sleep till VERY late (midnight or so) and they leave their damn dog (daisy) out and she barks until they let her in. Literally for hours... Last winter when it was -?ºF she was out there barking away... I was a c hair away from reporting them or putting a piece of mail in their box. I give them a little slack as they ARE deaf... Their kids hear just fine though...

Having seen what rodents can do to a car, I think cats are the lesser evil. An ultrasonic noise maker should keep all the bothersome critters away.

I don't envy your situation. Talk to the neighbor, I'm sure most would be considerate and house the cat. Get some pictures of the cat too if you can sleeping on the car just in case.

We always preferred cats to mice and rats. Mice like spark plug wire insulation and upholstery. A lot. My uncle found this out when he put his Cougar Eliminator in the barn several winters back - not pretty.

You can also try pouring some tobasco/hot sauce around your car as well as strips of tin foil.

I tried those ultrasonic noise makers with my dogs, because they used to bark way too much and it said it was guaranteed to work. I set up 3 in my backyard, and they didn't do a damn bit of good. I seriously don't know if they were emmitting any type of sound whatsoever.
