Default Finally got my first rear differential experience.

The new (to me) K10's rear tire leaned in ever so slightly. Having seen how poorly the previous owner took care of this truck I thought I had better check it out. After consulting a few people I decided that I should go ahead and order axle bearings and axle shafts. Once I had the differential cover off I saw that the spider gears where pretty well pitted and chunked up too. So I had to order a set of spider gears too. I put the axles and bearings in last week but I had to wait on the spider gears to come in. They finally came in today. I got them swapped out just a little while ago. The last person that was in that rearend was a freaking HACK! All four of the spider gears are supposed to have thrust washers behind them, only 2 had washers and 1 of those 2 washers was in 2 pieces. That is most likely why the gears were chunked up and pitted, they had a LOT of slop in them. Luckily the ring and pinion gears looked ok. I'm crossing my fingers on that part.

The driver's side C-clip was shot too. Here's a few pictures of them.

    My fancy new spider gears.

Good work Brandon. Sorry I didn't call back. All I could offer was moral support.
    Rest in Peace Charlie!
