Default Damn you Tony Horton (P90x guy)

Well as many might know I was accepted into the police academy in my home town. There's still a couple more things before the academy starts, mostly on paper, nothing big. I have to keep my ass in shape so I bought the P90x stuff and have been doing it for going on the 3rd week now, and all I can say is..... I'm only 202 @ 6' tall, but just doing it to maintain and enhance and maybe get leaner so I can chase the criminals around town!

I played sports all through HS and college football, and after my first week of this I couldn't remember even being that sore in ANY sport!

Definitely intense though. Seems to be working, but we'll see once I get to day 90.

(Not a marketing ploy, just sharing an experience BTW)

CrossFit is my preferred method of masochistic exercise but I have been hearing a lot about this P90x and will probably give it a try once my shoulder is rehabbed. From what I have heard P90x is similar.

Congrats on the new career. I have it too, just sitting around somewhere. I have to start up again, I lost 32 lbs (mostly from running and eating right).

I got a copy of the P90X dvd's from a friend, and my wife and I tried them for about a month. Then she got sick, I got sick, we got busy, etc, etc, and never went back to it. When we were using it, it really did kick our asses. There is virtually no break the entire time you are working out. It's non-stop action for the entire workout. The program works! I plan on getting back to it sometime in the near future.

P90x is good for people trying to lose weight and I wont deny it works. However you will lose some muscle along with the fat you lose. You are keeping your heart rate too high for too long of a period of time and it will eat into some muscle along with the fat. That being said if it you like it and it keeps you motivated keep at it! I would not do it for an extended period of time(longer then 3-4 months) though.
