Default Valvetrain clatter due to normal wear/poor tolerances???

    Hello!
My G8 GT is nearing 140k tough miles and the valvetrain is super loud/knocky/ticky upon cold start, the colder the louder. It already has ridiculous piston slap so I know the difference in noises and the cold valvetrain noise gets louder every successive fall and winter.
I have replaced the problematic DOD-specific hardware (all lifters and VLOM) and have checked the cam and it is in mint shape. Everything works fine, Blackstone oil reports are clean, oil pressure is good, and no other engine problems exist. This leads me to believe that I simply have clearance issues. Has anyone tested this, tried slightly longer pushrods or had a similar experience and found a solution?
    Thanks!
