    Default Lifter noise

Well, with 105,000 miles I notice the lifter ticking noise. I believe I read somewhere that revised lifters were available from GM. Would this be a possible TSB issue?

I doubt it Bob. The lifter issue have been know for a long time and GM has not done anything yet. Best bet is just to replace them yourself if you want to keep the G8.

    Thanks for you insight Kermit

My mechanical ability is not so sound as to attempt to replace them myself. I do have very good local shop that can do the job, just wondering about the cost.

Probably cost a bit you have to pull the heads to replace the lifters. And you'll need new head bolts I believe they're tty bolts.

I read somewhere that GM issued revised lifters to eliminate the problem. Does anyone know what the part number is?
I have a friend who works at a local Chevy dealership, and she is unable to locate them.
    Please advise.

    Thank you,

I think I will keep the DOD because it took 105,000 miles before the ticking started. I don/t know how long I'll keep the G8, but they should last while longer.

Hey Bob.. I know that part number or at least can find it I think. I had my lifters replaced with the updated ones, mine would "tick" upon sittin and then starting. Not readily available but I'll see if I can find the number used with date when I have a chance... probably tomorrow. -pokey

Thanks for your reply. Are they available at a GM dealer, or after market?

Here is some great information on replacing AFM lifters and related parts. Read the other posts from the same author (pir4te).
