Default Running out of fuel before empty

My G8 runs out of fuel around 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank still showing miles left in the dic. I've checked and yes there's still fuel in the tank when it runs out. I researched and thought maybe the crossover tube had came loose. Pulled the pump and tube was still attached to bucket and the driver side sending unit. Couldn't find anything wrong with the tube or pump/sending units. Not sure what else to check. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Is the car stock? Stock fuel pump? Some background on the car would be helpful.

My initial guess is the fuel pump if getting stuck moving up and down.

sediment or something in the filter sock?

since you removed the pump and checked out the tank - has it happened since?

Haven't put it back together yet, was hoping to find information I hadn't thought of to fix the problem 😅. The tank was very clean and not much water if any. Thanks for the replies
