Steve, I don't check this forum much, but I know we've talk about this a bunch...
I have multiple radios torn apart, down to the video boards. I have been working on a project for upgrading the radios to V9 firmware, but it has been sitting on a shelf for several months now, due to other life priorities. One day I'll pick it back up and get it. I have the firmware for the base radio, just not the video board yet. Since the video board is being upgraded, it would be worthwhile to tag on custom images with it. However, I'm directly accessing the MCU chip on the video board, not the Spansion chip. Are you saying for sure the image data is saved on that chip? Not the MCU?
Obviously, how I wrote my free DIY guide to all the radio mods, I'm not in it for profit, but I'd be glad to work with you on it. If I can find an good influence to pick up the video board and hack around on it, I may. I really need to just build a CAN-shield Arduino and learn on that. That's one area I haven't begun but been pondering for years.
EDIT: I just said screw it and bought the Arduino and CAN SHIELD that I've scoped for so long. I'm going to start experimenting with that. If indeed the graphics are on the Spansion chip, I can easily tap into that and do some work even without an Arduino.
