12669528 is for the 2009.5 G8 dipstick tube and pan. Don't use that one if you have a 2008-2009 dipstick tube and pan.
They are not interchangeable. You will need to find a used older version dipstick.

12570788 is for the 2005-2013 Corvette oil pan which is also not correct for the 2008-2009 G8
He needs to find 92068536, but as he stated GM no longer sells them.

Sorry for my mistake. Did not realize how limited our dip sticks are.

Yes, with the 2008-2009 dipstick going into the oil pan instead of the block like most other LS applications (other than GTO) is the problem. In the 2009.5 update GM started using the Camaro style oil pan and used the conventional dipstick in the block arrangement.

Damn good to know. you know if nothing else you could always upon oil change - before you start filling - but after draining.

Check the new stick - should be dry.

Pour in 6 quarts - wait 5-10 minutes - check stick - should show I hope if it does show - MARK THAT

Pour in another 2 or 2.5 - wait 5-10 minutes - check stick - see where that ends up. mark that. now you know where it should end up.

If getting any other stick or the like doesn't work out for you. OH and maybe try the pull apart and scrap yard internet sales. I mean sad to say but enough have been wrecked.

I'm using the same dip stick in my LS3 that was in the L76.

I'm not able to look now. Is the hole in the block still there, just plugged or whatever, for use of the newer style of dip stick? Then plug the pan hole? I know that's not exactly an "easy" solution, but maybe something that's necessary if parts run all the way out? (although I'd imagine there will "always" be junkyard stock)

I plugged the block. The build is on this forum. CP talked about it.

Yes, there is a plugged hole in the block but you will need to push the plug into the oil pan.
