Turn off email subscriptions until Admin can fix the spam issue. The only email I get is when someone marks a post. Anyway, I banned another and removed his 24 posts.

My forum uses PHPBB, so I don't know what tools are available in Vbulletin, but ours works like this:
A user registers and does the captcha, and has to click a link in the activation email. Then from there, all the users posts will be hidden from general membership until 5 are approved by a staff member. 99.99% of the time, you call tell a spammer by his/her/its first post, but 5 is the number we use. After that, the user's posts will be visible to all like normal. Granted it doesn't stop a spammer from making 50 posts of nonsense, but the membership is none the wiser. My process is usually to add the name, email, and IP to the ban lists, then delete the user and all its posts. Seems like the quickest way when dealing with a multiple-post spammer. If I notice larger IP blocks that posts originate from or email domains that normal people wouldn't use like *@cuterussians . com, I'll block those entirely.
