LOL. Yeah, the part that takes the most time is getting the jack stands set in place. Once I have the wheels off I could replace the pads on both sides in less than 10 minutes.

OK. Well it took a little longer than 10 minutes. I timed it at a little over an hour to get everything cleaned up of all the old copper grease, to apply the new "magic copper grease," and get everything put back together.

Initial testing resulting in no more squeal. I slowly backed up and crept forward multiple times in my driveway and not a peep out of my brakes. I'm holding off on total belief until I back out of my driveway in the morning and my brakes don't squeal, but for now all signs point to problem solved.

From what I've been reading on the SS forum, people have been having varied success with the GM "magic copper grease." Some are saying it's been months and not a peep while others say it only lasted for only a few days to a week. Only time will tell how effective this was.

    Muchas gracias @MIEngineer!

I'm not totally convinced that it was any individual part that caused my noise, but maybe a combination of all things. Anyways if you're installing some brembo calipers I would suggest picking up some of the "magic grease." It's cheap enough to just have it in case you need it. If you're just replacing rotors and pads I'm not sure you'll need it.

Pads and rotors came, look first class. I'm not anticipating any problems, but I'm going to heed your heads up and get the stuff ahead of time.

Well, unfortunately the squeal has returned. I made it exactly one day with no noise, but this morning the squeal was back with a vengeance. My wife even came out to the garage to see if something was wrong because she could hear it from inside the house. I guess my next option is that I'm going to try a different set of pads and see if that does anything. I was previously using the Autozone Duralast ceramics and they weren't making any noise so I think I'm going to try a set of those again and cross my fingers.

I'm so tired of messing with my brakes.

Terry I have had the Duralast ceramics on my front Brembos for about 3 years and no I don't put very many miles on my car (about 1 to 1 1/2K a season) but have never had any noise issues.

I picked up a set of Duralast Max ceramics today at lunch. I'll install them this weekend (probably) and see what happens.

I thought I remembered Autozone having a few different options for ceramic pads last time I bought some. Now they only offer the Duralast Max ceramics for the GXP fronts.

When I find a house in SA I'll have my quick jack to lift up the G8's. My daughter will be looking at a house in El Dorado sub for me.
    Rest in Peace Charlie!

I wasn't familiar with the El Dorado subdivision, but if it's the one that I just looked at then you'll be kinda close to me. About 10-15 minutes down the street.
