    Default Rear brake noise

First time changing brakes on my G8 GT. Replaced rotors and pads with powerstop brand and now getting noise from rear drivers side. It sounds like normal bedding noise. At first I assumed it was but it should have gone away by now. What should I look for that might cause this besides rotors and pads?

Did you go out and do the bedding process?

My Powerstop rears had a scraping for a few days after install and attempted bedding. I have a thread about it here somewhere. It went away after a good long drive.

Yes did the proper brake in procedure.

As for noise it's a screeching sound till I come to a slow stop then I'd becomes a scraping sound. I did not reset the parking brake. How do I do that?

J Wikoff how long of a drive was it?

so most common issue - made worse with slotted rotors.

pad to caliper slop noise. Assuming no brake mods you are talking about the standard pin guided calipers right?

There are 2 spring metal clips on each caliper bracket - they basically grip the pads in the hole. And provide a smoother surface for the pad ears to ride.

What I like to do - to help with all noise is a 2 fold application of brake grease. And yes it has to be the specially formulated brake grease - worth every penny.

I like to put a light coat on the backs of the pads AND then on the pad ears. Often I end up lubing the clip as well as the pad.

Usually those clips can either scrape the rotor because they get out of alignment or they can bind the pad at a slight angle - again because bent.

so you need to ensure they are cleaning in their slots - and firmly in place. Often new pads will come with new clips - and when I get a set I use the new ones. The tension wears out after a while.

grease on the back of the pads - helps them slip with vibration over the ends of the caliper pots or the back of the caliper plates. Stopping them from singing as the pads ride over the ridges in the slotted rotor.

And yes under brake pressure those slots act as ridges. which is a great thing on a track - annoying thing occasionally in a parking lot.

I took the rear drivers side brake apart last night to inspect it and nothing is rubbing or grinding that I could see. I cleaned and lubed everything and I still have the noise. It sounds like its getting better but only cause the grinding when coming to a complete stop has gone away but the screeching sound while driving is still there. I'm giving it till the end of the week then I may replace it. I find it weird that it hasn't gone away yet after the brake in process.

    OH - rear side.

1 do you still have the dust shield? I found on rotor replacement it touched. I removed them.

    2) did you make sure witht he parking brake off - the shoes clear the inside of the rotor hat? and nothing is in there out of the circle?
