Default Trunk light replacement with Diode Dynamics LED

First, a tip: Look through the holes in the sheet metal near the lens and see which end has the wires running to it. Pry the opposite end first. In a thread in the G8 Board, it said pry on the driver side. In my case, that was wrong and I cracked a chunk off the lens.

Second, a complaint or three: The Diode Dynamics LED has a spring loaded replacement for the stock bulb. The spring is weak and I'm not confident that it'll hold itself in. The LED board has to sit outside the stock housing, stuck in place with preinstalled foam tape, which isn't very strong. The wires to the board aren't long enough to run out through the slots by the lens without popping the weak spring loaded bulb filler thing out of place. So they have to come out through the hole for the lens. I worry a bit about the sharp metal edge eventually shorting a wire that's pressed against it.

Third, a question: When the trunk has been open long enough for the light to time out, it doesn't actually turn off. It gets pretty dim and flickers. Normal or an issue?

IIRC when the trunk light shuts off - like the other interior lights - it dims down as it goes.

so that might be your flicker issue and I would think DIODE dynamics should look into that.

    Otherwise I've got nothing

I had an LED in the trunk of my GT and it did the same thing after a while. I assumed it was the light, but I guess not! It was just a factory style replacement LED bulb.

I want to replace the stock trunk bulb in my 08 GT with an LED. Can I get just any 211 LED bulb which looks similar to the stock one?

Also, where is the trunk light fuse? I looked at the 3 panel locations and nothing is labeled as trunk light.
