Yeah that's understandable. There are only so many people with G8s that are interested in being on a forum. But... I am proudly one that now does own one and that is interested in the forum!

I picked up my 2009 G8 GT last night. The drive home was excellent! I had never driven a G8 before and I was very surprised by the throttle/transmission response! Just roll on the throttle and it immediately starts moving up! I've never driven an automatic that I enjoyed driving until this one that is for sure. I think I heard a little but of valve train noise but I don't know what kind of oil this guy has been putting in it and it looks to be about a quart low on the dip stick. I'm planning to change the oil and see if it persists. That and the head board carpert/lining is coming off on the front and back. Those are my only concerns with the car so far.

Sounds like it has a tune already.

He said he had Solo axle backs on it but sold them before he put the car up for sale. He said he had not had it tuned but he is the second owner. He says he has had it since 75K miles. Are these cars usually not very responsive without a tune?

The engine is responsive without tune, the transmission is not.

Interesting. This one is responsive until I basically floor board it. Just rolling on the throttle to accelerate past a car it's great. Once I mat it, it feels like I just put in the clutch, waited about a full second and then dumped the clutch hard on whatever gear it goes down into haha! Basically I go forward from loss of acceleration, then get slung back into the seat from the abrupt acceleration once it finds the gear that it wants.

Also this car is an early 2009, 9L1 Vin, which I have read that they have lifter problems at around 50K. This car is well past that point. Should I worry about replacing them? I do not know if the previous owner replaced them or not.
