    Default Possible Leak Of...Something

I was cleaning the garage today and the G8 has become pretty much a garage queen. I'm driving only about 2.5K miles a year now and the car has sat for weeks.

I noticed today on the floor some spots that look oil in nature but I'm confused on what it could be. Given the car has sat for weeks the location of the staining on the floor could best be described as dead center on the car. Draw a line right where the B-pillar meets the front of the rear doors - go dead center -- and there you go, that's where the deposits are.

There is definitely no engine in that location, and I don't think any transmission at that point. G8 is operating normally. No maintenance recently beyond my routine annual check up back in April (and oil change).

So don't know if this is nothing, or something to be worried about. The stains are dried up, so I can't tell you at this point if it was oil tranny, differential, or just some drainage from the AC etc. etc. etc.

    Thoughts?

I couldn't see with the car on the ground, but the tranny tail may make it that far back by the B pillars.

You said it's dried up now. Did you used to start it everyone once in awhile to keep the engine exercised? Maybe it's just condensation from the exhaust?

I have started it in the garage - but only for a few seconds at a time - so 15 or 30 seconds.

That will do it. Mine does that when I only start it for a moment too.

Take it out for a drive 10 miles or so. Put cardboard down under middle of car. My AC condensor drains in the middle in the middle. Also could be oil filter?

Ah ha! You have answered the question - I'm confident it is the AC condenser drain. We had a historically hot and humid summer. Very little driving with windows down and sunroof open this summer. That would explain why I haven't seen before.

Can you confirm the marks on the floor are water versus oil?
