    So, it seems like the sound went away in the last couple weeks. However, the rack is leaking quite a bit now in the general area of the steering shaft.

    I guess I forgot to update this. I replaced the rack and it fixed the problem.

    got it thanks Rock auto sells new ones for $300 AC Delco not a big price diff on the new versus reman

    I was thinking I got the reman for less than $200.

    Edit: I looked back. I am wrong about what I got and how much it cost. It was $324.10 shipped at the time for a new ACDelco rack.

    EDIT again: It's cheapest on Amazon right now after the 15% coupon that you can click to apply. $302 after tax.
