    Lightbulb Serpentine Belt Installation Help

Cannot for the life of me get this belt on. Checked routing, checked part number, push tensioner, and no go. I can't get it to slide over the pulley, had to walk away. I'm hoping it will just slip on when I go back.
Tip or trick I'm missing? I've done dozens of belts before, wtf.

I do the water pump pulley last, that way you don't have to worry about a pulley lip... Are you replacing the belt with a new one or just putting yours back on?

Get a 15mm box wrench and put it on the central bolt of the top tensioner, now crank the wrench as hard towards the centre of the engine as you can....you'll feel the tensioner hit the stop. Now hold the tensioner against the stop (with rotational pressure on the wrench) and slip the belt on.

He said he's pushing the tensioner in.

Well there's soft-cock pushing and then there's cranking it fully against the stop.
    I prefer the 2nd option.

Thanks Paul, only good hard cock pushing here. That's the routing I was using, maybe this belt is a hair tight? I'll try the water pump pulley.
BTW Paul, we never got together on those holden baby clothes, I was waiting to add the other pieces from you to the order. Been crazy busy between work, house remodel, baby coming 7/25(aahh!), and everyday crap on top of that. I'll still take em off your hands if available, pay Friday if we can lock it down.

Damn near whooped my ass again. Should the tensioner be at maximum rotation with a new belt installed?
