It will stretch a bit once it is run. It will be easier to get on and off after that.

Success! With a combination of sliding belt off water-pump pulley part ways, belt slackened enough to be pried off tensioner pulley. For installing, sliding/pushing belt under water-pump pulley last is what I recommend to other novice mechanics such as myself.
I was surprised, GM was more generous with slack provided to ac belt, with ac tensioner pushed down. This belt was very easy to remove and replace even though it looks difficult due to confined space and I actually had to "operate by feel" to place belt around ac compressor pulley but plenty of slack makes it possible. Again thanks and I fist-bump the gods in your (you plural) honor.

just replaced my serpentine belt about 30 seconds ago. this thread made it easy. mad props to cp. just started at the alternator to the p/s then tensioner crank and cam to other tensioner. was the easiest thing I've ever replaced or installed on a car. question, do you have to take off the serpentine belt to install a new ac belt because that's what it looks like to me?

Yes, that is the only way.

Easy for people with a little mechanical aptitude......maybe as kids having to put your own chain back onto your own geared bicycle helped teach us all something. The people who struggle the most, probably grew up on Nintendo so their digital upbringing would limit them to calling up OnStar and moaning all over the internet.

Thanks Chewy, Mine might be making a little noise now. Looks like un-bolt the 'pulley wheel' itself for replacement instead of the vertical arm it is attached to according to engine photos I've seen.
