From the pictures I took during my install, here are the only occurrences of a non-rounded hexagonal head that I could find. I believe we removed these bolts during the rack & pinion removal in order to drop the oil pan completely out. I also believe there are similar bolts on the other side of the engine bay but I do not have pictures of them.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more it seems to be some random thing that I'm either going to find when I'm putting everything back together, or that I'll never figure out and never know about it.

BTW, tanks so much, guys! That's why I love this forum!

That's an M6 bolt, BTW. That size can be used for all kinds of non-critical bracket/clip mounting.

Either throw that bolt away or those calipers. I've never seen a 5.5mm bolt on our cars. Yes, it is a 6mm bolt. The calipers are still crap though. LOL

It was the lower bracket in that picture. Turns out that I DID label the bolt for the dipstick tube. But, I'd taken that bracket off (holds an A/C line) to move the condenser out of the way. Got it put back on last night.

Did you drop the oil pan? Looks like and oil pan bolt or one to the battery cable bracket?

Problem solved in Post #15. You don't even have to scroll far to see it.
