    Default Dash hawk questions

-- Is it ok to just leave the Dash Hawk plugged in all the time ??

-- What would be the 4 functions that you would want to monitor ?? The default setup has RPM and throttle position. I think there are more important
functions that you would want to monitor.

    Thanks

    Maybe.

First, leaving it plugged in prevents OnStar from monitoring your car and sending you diagnostic information.

Second, the DashHawk unit itself never turns completely off. Even when it is not illuminated, it is awake and monitoring the network. There have been reports of the DH running down batteries of vehicles stored for 2 moinths or more.

There is a diagram and parts list on the DashHawk site for making a cable with a power switch. (You may have noticed that you cannot read the Dashhawk with it plugged in to the vehicle. If you build the new cable, you can turn the unit off and read it without having to demount the unit and unplug it)

I myself like....... coolant temp, ambiant air temp, inlet air temp, trans temp.
I keep mine on 6 views with knock retard and instant Horsepower.

I leave mine plugged in my Jeep all of the time, no problems in almost 2 years.
It does prevent the OnStar info, but I change my own oil etc....

    I love the DashHawk !!!!!

I like to compare the AAT to the IAT, and after the Heat Sink Relocation kit for the IAT, it is lower. I am a performance freak though.

I like to have it like this:

    4 pids:

    Coolant temp
    Tranny temp
    IAT temp
    Knock retard

    6 PIDs

    Coolant temp
    Tranny Temp
    IAT Temp
    Knock Retard
Speed (I have TBSS and I know you guys have digital readout on dash)
    RPM

    Thanks,
    -Mike
