You should have used a sawzall with a metal cutting blade, and do it at an angle. I did mine like that and while it cut up the block pretty good, the pistons sure looked different once I got done with it.

(and yes that was a joke lol)

When I did my cam swap last weekend mine looked BAD. I rolled all the pistons to the top and did them one at a time. I used brake clean and a razor blade on the pistons and brake cleaner, power purple and a brass brissle brush on the heads. Everything looked very good when it went back together. Just not sure how long it will stay that way.

Razor blades seem so ideal for scraping until you see how unprecise they actually are for this type of thing. There is no way you did this without putting scratches/scuffs on the tops of your pistons. Also, brass scratches aluminum so I wouldn't have touched my heads with that either. Overall really bad idea in my opinion.

I am sticking with my plastic scrapper for my heads and valves and I doubt I even touch my piston since they are not bad.

I used a razor as well... im sure its not an exact science and I hate to think I scuffed a piston top, but im sure I may have just a very small bit.

Its amazing, but I still manage to sleep at night.
