    Default Best V6 performance mods...

I hope to get some advice on the best mods for the V6 (not for me but I'll likely be doing all the work).

The car is totally stock right now and money IS a concern. Is the CAI the natural place to start or will a tune give better results? If the CAI is the best way to go which one are people using (dry filter preferred).

    Thanks, Guys!

Roto-Fab makes one with a "dry filter". Get two filters and rotate them. You won't have to wait for the other to dry. Only other mods for drivetrain are better exhaust and something called the manifold insulator. With everything, maybe a 20 to 25 HP gain. There is a tune, but, its almost $700.00 and the gain is around 10-15hp. Real mods are the suspension related ones.

Can the car be tuned with HPtuners? If so, I might get the system for myself and 'sell' him two of my credits. I wonder if there are any transmission tunes available...

I didn't see them for the G8, but Stainlessworks makes headers for the Camaro. I bet they would work, but they aren't cheap. It's not going to be cheap to make a V6 car fast, but if you're just looking to pick up a little performance I would think the standard CAI, catback, and tune would be a good way to go. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to tune with HPtuners. Maybe consider a rear gear swap to make the car feel a little lighter too.

If money wasn't a problem, and you wanted to go faster, you could always add a small (50-75 shot) nitrous kit.
