    Default Minimum Trans fluid temperature

So, after installing my B&M cooler, with ambient in the 50/60's I'm seeing constant <130F. I'm pretty sure as temps drop here, the constant will be dropping also .. perhaps 100F?

I've looked on the 'net for info, only see the negative on high temp. Does anyone have info on the safe minimum temp?

At what temp does the TCM see as minimum and what happens below that temp?

I'm measuring temp with a dashhawk.

    TIA!

To get that answer you need to get your hands on General Motors specification GMN10060

"get your hands on General Motors specification GMN10060" - seems that is not so simple. 10 pages into google and see many references to it, but cannot find document in public domain. Can get it for $30.

Any pointer? to where a PDF may be?

Seems the minimum temp is transmission specific, anyone know the minimums the A6 in the GT? And was is affected (TCC lock up etc)?

From what I've learned, non-GM specific, there are not really any "minimum" temps for tranny fluid. Anything below 150* is ideal, and your B&M cooler should have a thermostatic valve in it anyways... it self-restricts flow when it is too cold, thereby keeping the fluid from circulating through the cooler until it is warm enough to open the valve fully. Seeing as how you won't start your car cold and immediately lay into it WOT because the engine oil and coolant are cold, I'd say your trans temp will be just fine once the engine is up to operating temps. As a general rule of thumb, every 25* temp increase over 150* cuts tranny life in half. Therefore, if your average trans temp is 225*, you can expect to only get 1/8th the life you would at 150*, or 12,500 miles vs. 100,000 at 150*.
