    Default Free magnetic drain plug

Finally got around to changing the oil with my Pace/RP oil change kit and lo and behold the new magnetic drain plug is the wrong size. Shades of UDP pully belts, GM changed something and didn't tell anyone. The folks at Pace refunded my money and said keep the plug. I don't need it, so if anyone is interested it's theirs.

I know. I used that same part number of the Pace Performance website, and ordered the magnetic drain plug from my dealership. It was an expensive $22 part plug that was too big and doesn't work.

Does anyone know the correct GM Part Number for the correct magnetic drain plug?

The one I got from them seems to have worked. I gave it to my installer last time car was in and he would have said so if it hadn't fit.

So part # 24241872 is the wrong size for a G8 ???? I'll need to contact Pace if it is.

It is only some G8's that it does not fit. I think they are working on finding out what cars 24241872 will not work on.

Perhaps it doesn't fit 2009s? seems odd that would have changed though.

Mines an 08 and it did not work. I bet it was a mid year change.

After we worked with paycheck today. This refreshed my memory about this problem. It seems to not be only an '09 thing. From what I can see it is holden using up some old pans and mixing in the new ones. We shipped about 6 of the magnetic plugs to AU and none of them worked in their pans. To my knowledge GM does not have a magnetic plug that will fit the course thread pans only the fine thread pans.
