Default Why is the cover there?

    Quick question:
(Sorry, new to the site...)Does anyone know why GM put the intake cover on the engine at all? NVH? The engine already came with an engine cover, why the need for a second intake cover?

I like the idea of taking the cover off.....would make cooling the intake on Track days easier!!

    Thks

NVH is correct. It is a must remove so you can ice/cool down in between passes and it helps on normal street driving if you moodded the hood also.

Did the hood vents! I'll be taking that cover off tonight, hopefully....

Thanks for the detailed instructions! Did you have any gas leakage or pressure when you popped the fuel rail off?

You don't disconnect the rails, just raise them up a bit, no leakage.

    OK, Thanks for the info!

GRRRR8 - I'm trying to find the thread and PICS for the lower panel mod. Can't seem to find it. Can you point me in the right direction?

So I did this on Saturday after I installed my Rotofab Intake. Took all of 15 minutes, and that is because I didn't have a deep well socket that small for the rails bolts. I went to the track on Friday night and was throwing ice on top of the damn thing and wondering why it wasn't cooling down. After seeing the chunk of foam/rubber under the cover it made much sense why it didn't cool. Easy free mod and very worth doing for anyone.

Very easy mod to do. Just don't be like me and break one of the fuel rain studs off in the intake. That was a fun repair.
