Exclamation The U.S. National G8 Meet Thread!!!

This is the official thread with all the updates about the first national G8 meet!!
This post will be updated will all important information, so there's no need to read though the entire thread if you're short on time

Mario (Blackdevil77) has set up a website for the first ever national G8 meet! Please go there for additional information and to "officially" sign up for the event!!

    >>>>http://nationalg8meet.com/<<<<

So, we've been discussing having a national G8 meet for quite some time. Everyone seems to think it'd be a lot of fun, but no one has wanted to take the initiative to get this thing planned, until now. Bracketracer has volunteered to take charge to help make this happen, with the help of anyone else that is interested.

So, let's get an idea of how many people would actually be able to attend a meet like this. Please vote in the above poll so we can so who will be attending the event.
If you want to see who can/ can't attend, click on one of the numbers in the above poll.

    Here's some information:
    • August 19th - 22nd, 2010
    • Location will be in Quad cities region of Iowa/ Illinois (Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois.
      http://www.quadcities.com/
    • Activities will include drag racing, auto crossing, car shows, cruises, etc.

We will be in contact with sponsers to see who would be willing to donate prizes that we can use for the winners of each event, and will hold an award ceremony to hand out all prizes and trophys.

If you can't stay the entire time, you could always just show up for a day or two to hang out with some of your fellow G8 owners. G8 owners will be driving and trailering their cars from all over the country, so this will be a great opportunity to meet some of the people from the G8 boards that you otherwise would never have the chance to meet.

The meet will be open to all G8 owners, and will be advertised on all G8 related boards as we get more information. Other types of related cars (GTO's, Camaro's, etc) are welcome to attend, but the prizes are only going to be given out to G8 owners.

Our host hotel is going to be the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf. They are quoting us a price of $109/night for double occupancy (one king or two queen beds). That is $40 off of their regular room rates for that time of year. More information about the hotel/casino can be seen at their website.
    http://bettendorf.isleofcapricasinos.com/

We are locked in to have the Cordova track for Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st. They will provide us with our own staging lanes, our own reserved area in the pits, and group only bracket racing classes. http://www.cordovadrag.com/

KEV-O is having some t-shirts made, so if you're interested in ordering one check out his thread here.

    So, let's make this happen!

I'd love to come but that's a lot of miles I still think that's a good location though, it serves the majority of the country. We'll just have our own west coast one SO THERE!!!

to put it in perspective I just bing'd seattle to davenport...almost 2,000 miles LOL...ya...probably not. Unless there was a prize for the person traveling the most miles to get to the meet, because that would be me. Maybe something like a cam install by Charlie...I could fit it in then.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate thing about this country being so big. It'd be great to have everyone be able to come, but it's just not going to be possible some. Wherever you have it, there are going to be some people that are just way to far away to make the trip.

This area makes it a possible drive for the majority of people on this board. It's just about the same distance from NY, Texas, and the Carolinas. It's nearly 1000 miles for me, but I don't mind driving. Missing work would be the biggest thing for me, but I think we'll find a way to make it work.

If we see that there aren't many people that would be willing to drive, then we'll see about moving it elsewhere. This is just a feeler poll to get a better idea of who could come.

I'd be a 50-50 person, mainly cause I don't want to put the milage on the G8 but it could always be towed.

This far in advance I could plan on it and would also bring another G8 owner I would hope. I put down most likely or whatever it said and now that I think about it I would definitely come. It would be fun meeting all the nuts from this forum in person, haha!
A cam installed by Charlie would be a definite plus and would get a lot of people there. We'd have to get crowns for him and Steve. Also have a board meeting with all the moderators, this thing could be a blast.
All the MA GRRRR8'ers could do a caravan down there.

^this...but I'm defenitely down for this road trip...I'm pretty sure if we can get the first national meet down and people see how it goes we should get more out whenever we do another...here in Houston we had 7 G8's for our first monthly meet and over time that number grew to 25-30 G8's...point is, it'll be good if this one can be successfully planned out
