((Brake)) light on
Just had this happen yesterday. the ole big (( Brake)) warning. History, 2 months ago, had SS brake lines put in, complete flush, all new fluid. Also all tires and rims, same size so no mismatched diameter. 1 Item is the brake bleeder when doing the work was stripped out when doing the flush so a new caliper was put on the left front, and as well, heard what seems a pop as well on the left front. Checked, no leaks, no shudder, no pull, pedal feel is perfect, stops perfect, no TSC or ABS off warnings. Everything is tight.
Could it be
1) Air in the system, but that is at odds with the pedal feel
2) Hub speed sensor?
I will get codes this week, but rather odd

Brake fluid level OK? When did you hear the pop?
-
Brake level is perfect, all new fluid, system flushed. No dirt, clean new fluid. All Calipers tight, pedal feel perfect. Stops straight, no vibration, no pull, like brand new. DBA slotted roters, Hawk pads. All good.
Pop was last nite, sounded like if you hit a stick or something, looked around, no stick, no rock, no nothing on the road.
That is what is odd, the obvious red flag is no where

It could also be the brake light switch. Does cruise control work? Need the code of course.

Ray, did not think of that, will see if it works when I bring it in. Hoping it is a switch, but that load pop sounding like a ran over something concerns me.

If you drive it, stuff is gonna hit it. I hate it, but I want to drive it. Thanks for still being with the forum. OG baby.

Charlie invited me when it first was opened up. Still the defacto place for info. Still have the car, still love the forum . OG 100%
As for the car. we shall see, in shop today, getting codes pulled. Very odd, hoping it is a sensor that is flaking out
Still have some work to get done. Damm Rear O2 sensors are throwing the CEL due to Kooks Mids and high flow cats. Just need a nice street tune to complete

Beyond Help
like someone else said - brake fluid level or fluid lever switch. That light also comes on when you leave the parking brake on - and I think the trigger for that is actually in the console by the handle and is a switch that shows the handle is above some point.
As far as I know those are the only 2 things that make that light come on but I don't have a manual in front of me. That pop you heard might have been the cable for the parking brakes - and that might be the cause. MIGHT - being the key word there.

The Saga continues. Tech had the car, brake light came on, then went off. Scanned for codes and the only ones were for the rear os sensors. Nothing for the brake(s).
He checked ABS leads, all good. Checked fluid. All good. Gonna see if the Fluid level sensor has a bad connection or the foot pedal switch.
The Parking brake sensor is fine and when I lifted the handle the P Brake warning came on as it should, lowered and went away.
IF it was ABS leads, the TCS disables and that did not happen. Cruise worked with the brake light on.
The Pop that I heard was in the front, so that could be time for new sway bar bushings or god forbid, 3rd set of LCA's,, but car is 100% smooth, no creaks.
This brake thing is just weird.

Was this tech at the dealer and what scan tool did they use? The GM Tech 2 or Tech2Win may be the only device to accurately diagnose. Even the fanciest of generic scan tools will not diagnose beyond the standard SAE powertrain codes.
