    Default Suspension is good again!

I had posted earlier in the GXP section (probably should have put it here) that after my complete make over on the car I couldn't take the ride, far too stiff and harsh for a daily driver. I found Behe performance as the closest Pedders dealer and went there yesterday to have them look at the car. The rear sway bar links were completely loose, which I suspected because the of the clunking noise from the rear. The ride height was at 26.5" - except for the right front which was 26.75". So we tightened up the sway bar links and re-set the ride height to 27".

Wow, what a difference .5" makes. The ride is good on rough or patched roads, and I gave up very little in steering response and overall handling. The car is fantastic, I am finally happy with the suspension upgrades. Ryan at Behe did a great job, very knowledgable with G8 suspension and tuning.

While I was there we checked the corner weights - the car came in at 3779 pounds which I thought was light for the G8. I don't know whether to be impressed or tell them to get their scales calibrated!

Here's an update on the ride. The suspension mods were completed at 19,800 miles. The trip to Behe in June at 20,440 miles resulted in raising the stance .5" overall. (The right rear was off by .25".) Also tightened all of the loose sway bar links. Great, the ride was vastly improved, but ...the clunking and groaning started, and became worse over the next few weeks. At 21,374 miles I was back to Behe and we pulled the sway bar drop links off the car - all the rod ends were shot in 1500 miles. So, I contacted Kyle at BMR and he immediately asked about the color of the bearings - gold - then told me these had been a supplier problem and that new bearings were on the way at no charge. Two days later I had all new bearings, bushings and hardware on my front porch. Great customer support from Kyle and BMR, it's really a pleasure to deal with a company that supports our cars like this. The new bearings are considerably more "stout" than the first set. Back to Behe again for a quick swap out and shazam, no more clunking and groaning.
