    Default Pondering license plates...

... and I need/want some opinions and ideas.

Currently, I have 4DRCRVTE. Four-door Corvette. It's a little obtuse, though. But 4DRVETTE was unfortunately recently taken.

So I'm pondering replacements! The car has since gained the nickname "The Yak" (from the brand name, "Ponty YAK"), so I've pondered just "THE YAK". A friend suggested "8CYL YAK".

Any other ideas? And no, I ain't puttin' nothin' about trouncing Hemis or Fords on my car, so don't ask.

Well, I know we've got a YETI, so a YAK might not be so out of place.

If I was gonna get a new plate it would be "FAIRDNKM". Fairdinkum is Aussie slang meaning fair, or all is good.

I was actually thinking of stealing GRRRR8.
    But is that trademarked?

I am a bit tired of the whole comparison to Corvette's thing.
Personally, I'd rather be in with my Holden brethren than the Corvette crowd.

The Corvette guys can be a bit touchy about it, too, actually.

I could always pull Pontiac's marketing slogan just before it died: YAKISCAR

I jest, of course. Whoever thought "Pontiac is CAR!" was a good marketing slogan needs to be excommunicated from the Church of Marketing. And maybe drawn and quartered out of spite.

"8CYL YAK" is still tempting. And "V8 HPPNS" seems fun, as does "THNXLUTZ".

Dangit, why is this so difficult?!

I say go with "THE YAK". A lot of people might not get it, but who cares? It's what you call the car anyway, and could always be a conversation starter for those who are curious about what it means.

I'm guessing HPPNS is short for happiness, but because of how that word is pronounced if you leave out the initial "hap," I'd avoid putting it on the license plate.
