Default Oil Dipstick problem. Need help.

I know, I'm an idiot, but I accidently pulled my oil dipstick tube out of my engine while messing with my headers and cannot for the life of me, find the hole to put it back in. I have a GXP LS3. I climbed under a buddies GT to see where his is routed, but I guess the LS3 goes to a different spot. I can't see a hole anywhere and I can't feel a hole anywhere with my hands. It's so tight in there I can't get to a lot of places.

Does anyone have a diagram of where it goes in at, or anyone that can describe it well enough that I can find it?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks Don. I have one of your service manuals, but I kept searching for dipstick and found nothing. I didn't think to search indicator tube LOL. There does not seem to be a hole there on my engine. I have read on some ls3's, the tube goes in on the engine block somewhere instead of the pan. If that was the case on the GXP, would the service manual for sure outline the difference?

    Thanks again for your help.

Thanks GeoffA. That's actually very helpful as I see where to stick my hands to feel around.

I believe that the LS3 and some 2009.5s L76 it goes on the block in front of the starter. I ran into this on Punishers (Fidel's) header install. It did not go through the engine mount and into the pan.
