Ok, I know this may be a dumb question but I could really use some input. I had to replace my oil dipstick because my factory one broke somehow. The one that came with the car was the normal flat flexible metal one. The new one I had to get is braided with a tip that has the cross hatching. So here's the question. I just had it in the shop to fix another issue so while it was their I had them change the oil but he only put 6quarts in? When you read the dipstick the oil level is above the cross hatching so to me there's plenty of oil? Now I know our cars require 8.5quarts so this is why I'm so confused. The dipstick I ordered from gm parts direct is part #12669528 which is the new dipstick since theold ones are discontinued. The dipstick measures 25.5inches from tip to seat.
Thank you in advance for any input
