Lakeview Meet 2015 - Official Thread
Welcome to the official thread for the 3rd Annual Ontario G8 Owners Club (OGOC) Lakeview Meet!
In 2014, we had 46 G8’s in attendance from Ontario, Quebec and New York State. From all indications that number is going to climb again this year. Lakeview 2015 promises to be better than ever! For the first time, we have expanded beyond a one-day format. On Friday, May 22nd, we’re doing a burger joint/pub night for those who will be rolling in the night before – a good plan for those travelling from distant parts of Ontario, or Quebec, NY State, Michigan, etcetera, as Saturday will be a jam-packed day.
As always, on Saturday we’ll be doing the ‘show & shine & meet & greet’ at Lakeview Park, Oshawa, but this year, we’ll have lunch at the park. Next, it’s over to GM Canada Headquarters for the big G8 group pics (can’t wait to see how many there are this year… may need to go three rows deep). For the cruise, we’re changing things up a bit. Instead of roaming city streets or local rural roads, we’ll be rolling from GM HQ and ‘stretching it out’ on the 401 Eastbound to Shannonville Motorsports Park, where we’ve booked a private evening on their Nelson circuit track!!
For those who will be staying over on Friday and/or Saturday, there are a number of hotels for both the Oshawa area and Belleville (near Shannonville).

Track Time at Shannonville!!!
We have a private booking for three hours of track time on Shannonville Motorsports Park’s Nelson Circuit. The circuit is 1.8 Km’s and features a combination of corners, straightaways and apexes should challenge us nicely. Only OGOC Members will be allowed on the track during our session. To ensure safety and fair distribution of the available time, we are limiting this to the first 30 OGOC Members that register and allowing a maximum of 10 cars on the track at any one time. This ensures that each driver will see at least one hour on the track.
This is a ‘test & tune’ format, meaning that we will avoid any manoeuvres that may put fellow drivers at risk. We will not be racing/passing one another. We are there to enjoy the circuit track experience and get a feel for what our cars (and we as drivers) can do. If you decide to bring a passenger, extra charges apply above and beyond the registration fee we are collecting; those costs are payable by you directly to Shannonville. All drivers and passengers will be required to sign waivers before using the track.
Registration
For Lakeview 2015, we are doing advanced registration on the OGOC.ca website. By registering in advance, you are helping us to do better planning and make everything run as efficiently as possible.
For the first time, we are charging a modest registration fee for the event to help offset the costs involved (park permit, supplies, prizes, food and beverages, PayPal fees, etc.). All prices include food (tasty sub sandwiches) and soft drinks at Lakeview Park on the Saturday. Costs for any other food and beverages throughout Friday evening and Saturday are not included in the registration fees.
The costs to attend the Meet are as follows…
Registration Fees
Each G8, including OGOC Member driver (includes lunch at Lakeview) $ 20.00
Each guest/passenger (includes lunch at Lakeview) $ 10.00
Shannonville Circuit per car/driver $ 50.00
Registration Fee Examples
Member only, Lakeview only -- $ 20.00
Member only, Lakeview and Shannonville -- $ 70.00
Member and guest, Lakeview only -- $ 30.00
Member and guest, Lakeview and Shannonville -- $ 80.00
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST REGISTER AND ATTEND AT LAKEVIEW IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE AT SHANNONVILLE.
Additional Fees at Shannonville
In addition to the $50.00 registration fee to OGOC for the track rental, if you bring passengers and/or spectators with you to Shannonville, the following fees will be payable by you to Shannonville Motorsports Park…
Passenger (limit of one passenger) is $ 10.00.
Spectators (non-passenger) are $5.00 each.
Here's how to register...
decide whether or not you're going to participate in the track event at Shannonville
head to the Lakeview 2015 registration page (see link below)
scroll to the bottom of the registration page and, based on your decision on Item 1, choose 'Meet only Payment' or 'Meet and Track Payment'
from the drop-down list, choose how many guests you're bringing to the Meet
click the appropriate PayPal button, which will take you to a PayPal page (the amount you are going to pay is calculated for you and will appear on the PayPal page)
complete the PayPal form to pay securely using either a PayPal account or a credit card
