I had a 93 talon. Same as that eclipse. As much as I hate to say it it was WAY faster then my g8. Even before I built the engine in the talon.
Them dsms although very ugly and small have huge cost/performance. I had around $6k I'd sy into my car all together and it was 475 awhp weighing in at 2400lbs. If it didn't need it it was removed or made light as possible. Just sucked driving a car with no radio and no sound matting.

Yeah, the Talon got down.
Now there is a argument on wether the G8 won. The Talon drive said he won. He said he hit his brakes before the G8 came around.
If you look at the vid.
2:02 secs, it looks like the head lights of the G8 are pass the Talon. He hit brake around 2:04 secs.

Yeah them DSM are really a major step forward in performance for 1990. I mean what else was on the market as an affordable 12-13 sec car. Sure you could run a camaro or fast back and have available parts. But 5 years later there was equal mods for the mitsu engine but the next 5 years were in touched by the v8 market as far as the 1990-1995 cars went.
I had my car at a flash light drag at a local runway. I was called out by one of the faster cars. He was a friend of a friend. He had a 11 sec (at that runway) mid 90's corvette. It would pull the front end up on a prepped track. On the runway he had to back it down for traction. I went ahead and cranked the boost on my car to 30 and mounted my slicks said good luck to my axles and transfer case and we lined up. I knew I wasn't going to win against his 800+ HP car. But going into it I said to myself if he only gets me by 2 cars I would be very happy.
Light turns green I hooked he spun and I was gone. Grabbed second and thought I got her dicked nothing broke. As I sham 3rd I look in the mirror and see him back there. Not pulling hard just back there. Look back up and see the line comming up fast and say to myself there's no damn way!
If he didn't spin I would have lost. Let's just say he was very upset with the amount of shit his buddys gave him after that one. Haha.
Remind you my car way build for "rally". It had a 2" lift I made for it BC I couldn't keep a bumper on it running all these back roads we got around here. Also I had a nice fresh passenger side dent in it from lack of traction the Friday night before. Haha
