Window switch - able to fix or just replace?
Over the last week or so it's finally warmed up enough here in Michigan to open the windows a little while driving around. I've noticed that the driver's side window switch has gotten fairly stiff to move compared to the others. This morning it went down but then wouldn't go back up til I pulled harder than normal and it clicked.
I've seen pictures of the underside of the module and it looks like there's some screws so it could be taken apart. The only reason I'm toying with the idea is that I have several electronic places near me that have various switches in stock or can order pretty much anything. I figure I don't have much to lose because I'll either fix it or buy a whole new module like I was going to.
Anyone ever try fixing one?

I think anything is worth taking apart if it's already broken. WTH right?
Check out this thread for the switch assembly.

I had mine apart last weekend. It is a pretty easy job.
You can get the Caprice PPV switch new pretty cheap ($22.00) the only real problem is that it has white LED's on the board instead of the matching red. The rest of the parts are an easy swap.
Edit: added PPV switch part number 92251769

Is that a whole assembly Greg or just the single switch for the drivers side? and is that price ordered through you or "general ballpark"?

That is the whole center console switch and the price from me. General dealer price would be slightly more.

Does the color match? I've noticed there's black ones and grey ones... I'll probly need to order one soon, have 'em in stock?

The ppv one is "Platinum" so to match the color you would need to pull it apart and swap the button cover and the top trim cover.
It is really pretty easy.
2 screws on the bottom and it is just clipped together. The hardest part was just working all the way around releasing the clips. Once you do that the top cover comes off and you are just left with the bottom sections with the buttons. Use a flat screwdriver and pop the window lockout button out, and work around the switch again releasing the clips.
Maybe I'll take the one I have apart again and snap some pictures.

Still, little bit of work for $22 beats $60 for a knock off or $100+ OEM.

Yes as long as you are fine with the switch lighting up white instead of red.

Actually Bob if you take it apart you might be able to just clean the switch rocker and not need a new switch at all.
The plastic switch that you move with your finger only moves a very small part inside, it you might just have some goo on the plastic outside parts.
I'll get some pics posted for you tonight I hope.
