    Default Less expensive 19" tires

Also posted this on the other board but just in case someone here isn't a member over there.

Been looking to replace the Bridgestone slicks that were on the car when I got it but money being kind of tight with the new purchase and I'm kind of... frugal... nah, I'm a cheap SOB that's what I am!!! At any rate found some Capitol Sport UHP tires, with my discount I got a set mounted and balanced for right at $500 out the door. Tread wear 520 Traction A Temperature A.

I'm sure they won't grip like the Bridgestones or Michelins but my car is a DD not a track warrior. Haven't had a chance to push them to the limit, been pretty damp ever since I got them but wanted to share my find with the community in case others are looking for some new inexpensive rubber.

Great! That's more than 50% less than I paid for my Potenza Pole position summer tires.

2009.5 MSM GXP 500ish N/A RWHP. Mods include but aren't limited to: Texas Speed 418 (6.8L) fully forged held together with ARP from top to bottom, PRC 255cc heads, Rick Crawford intake plenum, TB port, polish and tune, Roto-Fab 102mm CAI w/LS7 MAF, Kooks 1-7/8" headers wrapped with DEI, Corsa catless system, Circle D 3200 Stall, 3.45 final drive, BMR's complete street bushing kit and sway bars, Eibach Pro Kit, G-Force Axles, running on staggered VMR 710's with Bridgestone RE11 rubber. HSV triple gauge pack with Calais smokers kit mod, V6 tails, debadge/rebadge, V6 door handles, AU black door trim, Maverick Man under hood strut covers, & washer and bolt kit, fully corrected paint thanks to Adams Polishes and my hard work. Built with reliability in mind with some power for those times when you need to pass or go over a big hill. Just a poser, not a racer!

Keep in mind that's not retail that's employee cost. But still tires were about like buy 2.5 get 1.5 free vs. some Kumho's I was looking at before I got the Capitols. So far (little more then 1 week) road noise is no worse then Bridgestone Potenzas that were on it. And again I haven't really put any aggressive cornering on them, I'm sure by comparison they aren't near as sticky.

I have used the stockers ( I love them for summer use) GY Eagle GT's, pretty good, only got 15,000 out of them, suck badly in snow. General GMAX, great summer, rain, cheap, 20,000+ miles, fair in snow/poor in deep snow, Michelin SuperSports A/S3, 500 AA A, Only had them for a month, GMAX alot better in rain, were ok in recent snow until over 4 inches then fair, good in slush, so far good rating GMAX better in most all, but Mechelins less loud, hopefully last longer then GMAX, was 50 per tire more then GMAX.....GMAX at tire rack 185 per tire

My brother has GMAX tires on his G37X and other than the fact that they howl like a mudder tire, they're decent. He has the WORST luck when it comes to tires though.

Mine have a rumbling deep sound, no very loud but I guess noticeable, certainly not bad but louder then the Michelins.....If the a/s3's dont last alot longer then the GMAX I would go back to the GMAX. They are excellent in everything, great in rain where I can floor my car in rain like it not raining. I took a chance with the newest Michelins and so far not overly impressed over the GMAX's. But if they last alot longer it may be ok.....
