    Default finding TDC

Did anyone actually use the proper tools when setting TDC on cam install or did you just "eye" it up.

    Default finding TDC

I think you are referring to a degree wheel and a dial indicator or piston stop if the heads are off.
I think if you are using the stock cam gear, the dowel aligns the cam to the gear and then you just align the mark on the crank to 12 o'clock and the cam to 6 o'clock. And there isn't really any adjustment unless you are off by a tooth.

I'm only about 90% sure on this. Probably somebody can chime in to confirm or deny my words.

The stock L76 or LS3 has a single bolt cam & the stock timing gear has one central bolt hole to suit.
If you install an aftermarket 3 bolt cam then you also need to change to a 3 bolt timing gear with the correct timing marks & yes it will have a dowel hole.

Ummmmmm just fyi I am trying out a new cam in my car. Pulling my VMS 1.5 cam this weekend and trying a new one with a lower LSA and a bit more grunt down low, in case you'd like to save a few bucks and buy mine. It'll be for sale once the car is up and going and I make sure the new cam is okay for my liking.
