Default New Tune because of wider rears?

    Hey Guys,

After the 3.45 diff upgrade and the No traction issue, I have ordered some wider tires for my stock 18's. Im going from a 245/45/18 to a soft 255/45/18... does this require any re-tuning at all? Thanks,

    Brent

Watch your tire diameter closely. You don't know how close your shift points are with the current tire diameter.

You might see a difference in the speedo, but thats it. With my 275's in the rear, my speedo is off like 1 mph.

You should be okay with the new tires. The dimensions are slightly taller and wider than stock. You'll have less clearence at the front strut, on the inside and at the top. When you put them on look at every thing closely, do a test drive, then look again for signs of any rub. It's the most tire you can run with stock wheels on the front. On the rear you'll have no problems.

as G8 Ray stated watch your shift points. So I say yes. You may need a new tune if you are dead set on the shift points you are at now. With a taller tire I have a feeling your rpms will now be less when shifting at wot. When I switched to a taller tire on the rear on the street my shift points went down about 200 rpm in each gear.
