I will leave it for a few days then try 5w40 to see what that does. If nothing, I'll have to live with it I guess.

Also vacuumed it out, cleaned the weathertechs, and wiped off the touchless car wash haze.
Mine is the same way. I have axle-back deletes and I can still hear the valve train. It brought me no comfort, but maybe it will do you some good: from my mechanic to the tuner, everyone says these cars have naturally noisy valve trains. Bleh...

Mine got many times worse after I changed the cam and did the DOD delete. I really didn't notice it before the cam. But now I'm ALMOST embarrassed to start the car with car enthusiasts around...sounds like I've been neglecting it ;-(

I'm on my second set of factory lifters and they're (one at least) already starting to sound bad. Especially on a cold start at the end of a work day, It definitely takes away from the nice sound coming out the back end.

PCV would be a hissing or whistling from the moving of air. Lifters would be a ticking or squeaking.

I'll catch a vid this week. More noticeable with engine cover off. Injector maybe?

If you would, start a new thread about it so people can comment and properly get a focused discussion going without crowding this thread.

As for the OP, yesterday I got my Pedders SuperCar coilovers installed, and today I drove it!

I tried some new oil at my last oil change. I usually use synthetic stock weight, what ever is on sale or AMSOIL for the 1st 50,000 miles. Now I have 84,000 miles, hard miles. It always had a rough sound valve train and I get the cold start lifter tap pretty bad if: it is winter or cold, if even just a little bit low of oil-even 1/3 of a quart low will make it louder, if it is even slightly dirty, usually it will start tapping after 3000 miles of oil use. A very respected buddy of mine suggested this newer type oil made especially for older cars with some milage. It is only a BLEND not full synthetic so it was much cheaper and I got it on sale at 3 bucks a quart!!! It is called DEFY, it is made by QUAKER STATE. http://www.quakerstate.com/#/motor-oil/defy

They say, "Quaker State Defy™ Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
Help virtually stop the aging process inside your engine.
Over time, all engines age and experience wear that could severely shorten engine life. Now there is a motor oil that can virtually stop wear in its tracks—new Quaker State Defy™ motor oil. Quaker State Defy is a synthetic blend motor oil that’s engineered to defy time by preventing 98% of future engine wear1—including camshaft wear and bearing wear. Quaker State Defy contains increased zinc anti-wear agents that target high-temperature and high-wear surfaces to help you get the most life out of your engine."
I really like it. Since putting it in I have noticed way less vavle train noise and as of yet(3300 miles) has not had the nasty cold start tap plus I gained back the 1 mpg I loss since using PEAK SYNTHETIC oil which I had 18 free quarts. Not bad for free but I would not buy that stuff.
The DEFY will be my new go to oil. I change my oil by color, not time or miles. It never gets black, I change when brown and starting to turn black. Usually 3,000 to 9,000 miles, depends on alot of variables obviously. Try it let me know what you think. DEFY I like it.
