I know the 6L80es hold up in the vettes but how bout something with a little more weight?
Doug's is still in one piece. I don't think you can beat one harder than his....Not sure how many miles are on the build but it has several 10 sec timeslips. Nothing too special, just a couple extra factory clutches, a few welds here and there, and a good tune.

An awful lot of it is in the tune. I'm still of the opinion that there's only a handful of guys that can properly tune a 6L80 in a G8.

I've seen a few different cars have issues with their transmissions. I know Robbie with the maggie car that made 650+ has one of their builds and is using my tune with it last time i checked and is working great. I know that orange APS TT G8 2 owners ago had a few issues on a freshly built century one also. I think he got it redone again and had a remote tune done by Pat G last time i checked but now the motor let go.

I would go with a simple build on the trans that nothing crazy like Rick said. Also get a good tune and good cooler and i bet you won't have much issue.

It's just crazy to me how some guys have no issues with their 6l80es and other guys break them at the 400-550 mark. I guess ill keep tabs on the owner of my old car once he really starts driving it and see how much longer it goes for.

Yeah we are going to run another trans cooler on ours as well. We are getting ready to crank the car up a tad and want to make sure we got a tranny that can at least live for a while. I have been in talks with Jannetty Racing and those guys seem to have a good grasp on the 6L80es however there 5400$ price tag is a hefty one. I just hate to fork out that kind of change and something not hold together.

RPM has went 8s with a 4L60E in a 3950lb camaro. I have never had issuse in my Fbodys with a built 4L60E so wgen my G8 trans goes I'll try the swap and see how the 4L60E does in the G8.

Yes, going back and forth with tunes, it slams at low throttle sometime feels like someone behind has a rope and stops at shifts. He is willing to bet its a tune issue not mechanical. I had it at SlowHawk and Don downloaded a bunch of his tunes no real change. Don thinks mechanical. I just bought Hp tuners so i cam work with him. But I've been traveling a lot for work no real time to work with him. Under 1500 miles no racing

well thats how it always is. The Tuner blames the trans and the transmission shop blames the tune. I been there before with other vehicles.

The trans shop is the tuner. SlowHawk was just downloading for me
