I would give ur ins. co. a copy of the police report, get the car fixed and let the ins. co. do all the dirty work. That's why we pay ins. in the first place. I did this a long time ago of a wreck that a guy pulled out in front of me and he didn't have ins. It worked out great for me. Sorry to hear this happened.

Yup this is exactly what I am going to do. As long as the car gets fixed Ill be happy.

You know I really would have chased the guy down, but I know that It would have maybe lead to other worse things(fight ect) and being a CHL holder I always have to think about doing the responsible thing. So I just did the right thing and let the cops take care of it instead of taking into my own hands, after all the car can be fixed but getting in a fight or worse because of it would have been stupid in my mind.

Black box will have nothing for you. It has to see an event to data record. It will be over written if it had anything on it as it has since been driven.

Really to bad on this. Strange how the guy just left. He had to know you had his palte information. He clearly had things to hide at that time. Maybe a warrant or under influence of something.

I really doubt anyone would believe him for a minute if he said you hit him and then he left the scene.

Yeah Im pretty sure the cards are in my favor. Fleeing the scene alone puts him at fault, when I did get the chance to briefly talk to him I could smell alcohol on his breath.

I will try to find the info again, but I think it records permanently every impact over a certain g force. I could be wrong, but how would GM/ and or the po-po recover accident data if you were a hit-and-run like said jerkoff above?

Only has a certain amount of memory, and most people would generally have the car towed or flat-bedded after an accident.


Police only tend to get involved in subpenaing recorder data when it's a larger accident and not the "fender bender" that the OP got into.



I agree with others, give your ins. company all the info you have. They have lawyers on retainer that will fight for you to get this resolved in your favor.

Damn dude that sucks. I recently had that happen to me. I understand your anger but if it was me, i would of been stupid enough to chase him down. He wouldn't loose you. At least your ok and hope it all works out in the best way it can.

Well if the GT AND GXP Fascia are truly the same price which it seems like they are ill be going with the GXP front! The insurance appraiser will be coming to the house in the next 2 days so asses the damage. Insurance company said to wait till he comes before I take it to the body shop...
