Dyno numbers are nice and all but can be misleading. Lets see some track times, and I don't want to hear any excuses about not being a good shifter out of anyone.

So 70HP over a GT? And another 20 or so if it is tuned. WOW!

That more than the intake/tune most thought was needed to keep up with the GXP.

Wow, I am quite impressed. Looks like the money spent on a GXP is well worth it then. I was kind of on the fence, but those are some bad ass stock numbers. Definitely better than I thought.

Looks like it'll take a lot more power to bring a stock GT up to a base GXP!

I agree with this. One thing people forget is that the GT with the auto tranny does not have a true 1:1 4th gear (M6 4th is 1:1) and when you dyno in 4th you are really at 1:1.15. I believe that this "hurts" the dyno numbers of the GT. GTPprix tested an auto GXP and got 355 rwhp STD correction which would be in the mid to upper 340s rwhp using the SAE correction factor. Those results are more in line with what you would expect for a 54hp engine increase from the GT to the GXP. I think we are going to have to remember this when we compare dyno numbers from the GT and auto GXP with the M6 GXP as it is really not an equal comparison. If the gearing was equal the auto will usually have a litte more loss than the M6 but it is not as much as the dyno is telling us with the different gears. The extra loss is due to difference in the gearing causing a different measurement method.

Just wondering, but has anyone thought about taking into consideration the octane requisite of the 2 models? Since the GXP is already tuned for 93 (at least as far I know) it shouldn't have as dramatic of an increase from tuning as the GT. After all, the primary reason the GT benefits so much from the tuning is the amount of timing that can be added once you switch fuels.
Winning may not be everything, but its still better than losing

I don't know you. I don't know what have done. If you are looking to talk up a race for 3 hours, I can tell you I don't have the time. But what I do have are a very particular set of parts; parts I have acquired over a very long career. Parts that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you go home, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not punk you. But if you don't, I will punk you, I will race you, and I will embarrass you.

The GenTT crew in Adelaide have done a mild cam in a GTS with LS3 (M6). This retained the standard springs etc. 57rwkw (75.2rwhp) increase over stock from memory.

Given the driveline is the same in the GXP I'd imagine you'll see the same benefits over there too.

The LS3 is just a bigger and badder starting point. Makes me jealous too. Not that I mind my LS2 too much.

Ditto that...When will the mod fairy visit my house. She hasn't been yet, and it's pissing me off. If the wife doesn't come through for my birthday, I may well have to purchase myself. I gave her Christmas and still coal in the stocking.
