Come on up! I need to hear your exhaust again anyway! Only thing is, I don't have spring compressors so you'll have to provide those!

Kevin has em lol. It will be a nice change of pace instead of working on Mustangs lol. Although changing springs on the rear of the Mustang is 1,000x easier.

I LOVE reading these things. Not because I like to see you go threw it, but because it allows me to contemplate what direction I want to go with my car.

I think Livernois uses a different rear axle "Driveshaft Shop" if memory serves. Andy told me they had better luck with them on the G8's. May want to look at those too.

You could look at a complete Corsa system for your car. They're NOT cheap, but you don't go cheap.

2009.5 MSM GXP 500ish N/A RWHP. Mods include but aren't limited to: Texas Speed 418 (6.8L) fully forged held together with ARP from top to bottom, PRC 255cc heads, Rick Crawford intake plenum, TB port, polish and tune, Roto-Fab 102mm CAI w/LS7 MAF, Kooks 1-7/8" headers wrapped with DEI, Corsa catless system, Circle D 3200 Stall, 3.45 final drive, BMR's complete street bushing kit and sway bars, Eibach Pro Kit, G-Force Axles, running on staggered VMR 710's with Bridgestone RE11 rubber. HSV triple gauge pack with Calais smokers kit mod, V6 tails, debadge/rebadge, V6 door handles, AU black door trim, Maverick Man under hood strut covers, & washer and bolt kit, fully corrected paint thanks to Adams Polishes and my hard work. Built with reliability in mind with some power for those times when you need to pass or go over a big hill. Just a poser, not a racer!

He has American Racing headers. He's only looking for the axlebacks, no need to hack up an awesome setup.

Once I have things to do, definitely! Right now, all I've got on hand is the shifter mount. The axles will have the car up in the air for a few weeks, undriveable. So the best thing to do in your garage is the shocks/struts. I'll keep posting up, so you'll know when that's closer. We can definitely make a time of it.

The coworkers I went to the track with last weekend told me I should have taken the ST for the fun of it, since it's such a small, tossable car that came with sticky tires and has grippy Recaro seats. I definitely will take it one of these events! It'll need to be somewhat cool outside, however, since turbo engines can suffer crazy-high oil temps.

I may change to some Viking adjustable or QA1 adjustable for the strip.
And that's always the trade-off. But the G8 doesn't spend enough time on the track to be worth optimizing for the track. Especially not when it's a 4000-lb grand tourer.

Really, it still makes a lot more sense to save up and plunk down for a track C5 Z06 or Miata, since they can be had on the fairly-cheap.

Ah, now that's something we can have a get-together for. I do have spring compressors, and I can pack up and bring air tools. If at all possible, Troy, if you still plan to pick up the FE3 shocks, pleeeease do so before we put the springs on. I'd prefer to have to do that job just once, and retain the right to refer you to Performance Chassis for Round Two.

That's why I posted this thread. That and so people can weigh in as I go.

Actually, I was on their site earlier looking for the anti-wheel-hop kit. I should contact them and see what they've found and why they carry that brand.

The same reason the American Racing Headers system rocks is the same reason it sucks: it's a full system from engine to axles, in need only of axle-backs. So if I get a Corsa cat-back, that unfortunately means I'm looking at fab work to get the Corsa to attach, and I'm removing pieces of a system I paid for. So I'm stuck with axlebacks, and Corsa doesn't make just axlebacks for the G8 anymore, if ever they did.

I hear ya! This is why I went Kooks. I REALLY wanted ARH for whatever reason, but I wanted the Corsa more. You honestly lose very little power going with GXP mufflers over your MF's. The killer is the price of them and the weight.

I don't get any drone with my OBX + Js, but then I have catted 1 3/4" ARH, and an L76 rather than LS3. My Js are the Solo adjustables though, so I can tune them just right for my ear.

Hey Kevin, I picked up a shifter gasket that is supposed to fit the G8 and get rid of some of the vibes. You are welcome to try it out.
They are cheap and I can get another one. CobraBob says it fits the stock shifter. Might fit the MGW.

And you are welcome to try my magnaflow axle backs. Might give you an idea of which way you want to go.

The problem is that I need multiple J-pipes on the Magnaflows. They have a nice, deep tone. But the downside is that they resonate too strongly at low RPMs. So the J-pipes are currently set up to quell drone at about 1800 RPM. And they certainly help. But it's still loud enough to be annoying.

It will fit the stock shifter where it connects to the body, and it should do the same for the MGW. But I want to try the MGW bracket solo before I add any more padding. The Stang Shifter Bracket softens the mount point to the body and will allow some slight movement in the mount itself, as opposed to rigidly connecting the mount and then use bushings within the mount (which is what the stock shifter and the MGW shifter do).

Magnaflow is actually what I've already got. Which actually makes me wonder...

I'll have to check and see if Doug has his old GT axlebacks.

    Flowmaster is another option, actually.

And I also just put in a call to Solo Performance. We'll see what they say when they call me back.

Also, been meaning to post this, here's MGW's new rear bracket. Video says it's for a Mustang, but the bracket works in the Camaro/G8 as well.
