Now that's a thread bump!
One owner used a band saw to cut off the back of the honeycomb on the left lower grill. I got one that he made then I followed Charlie's lead and made a block off panel mounted on the frame that helped keep the hot engine bay air out of the intake area and I made it long enough to get up to the back of the new grill opening and direct air to the bottom of the intake. Drilled some 1" holes in the plastic below the intake to drain water and added a screen to the bottom tip of the intake box (RotoFab) to keep big stuff out.
I thought it worked pretty good. Poor mans ram air system.
Then I went VCM and have been happy!
