Default Sometimes it is just not your day.....

Went to a track rental in Milan, MI yesterday. The air was supposed to be pretty decent for this time of year, so I was going to see how close I could get to my PB with the current setup. I put the race seat in and loaded up the drag pack. I was also planning on dropping the back half of the exhaust. Drove the 3 hours up there and started putting on the front runners and one of the lug nuts would not come off. The wheel stud ended up turning without the lug nut coming off. No way to get the street wheel off so no front runners for me. Because of this limitation I decided not to drop the exhaust either since it would be one less thing to put back together when it was time to leave. Was still going to try to get some logging runs in so that I could see if it was completely dialed in. It should be close.

Got up to the lanes to tech in and went for the first run. The laptop that I had never had an issue with was being balky and would not start logging. I was completely flustered at that point. Since I have been used to running front runners I got out of the habit of turning off traction control since it is already disabled because of them. I realized this when attempting the burnout with traction control on. Needless to say that run was a goner. Pulled off in the pits and got the laptop behaving. Went up for another run, did a good burnout, and had a clean run. A good, but not great 60. Went back to pits and shut it down to cool and look at the log. WTF??? Extremely rich. How can that be? Then the thing that I knew I was forgetting I finally un forgot. I was doing some testing on my methanol system earlier in the week and had turned the controller up to the max for that. I forgot to put it back to the normal setting.

Having fixed that issue I decide to go for another run. In the meantime the track did not so much go away as completely packed its bags and went on vacation. No traction to be found at all. Had a few runs where I was all over the track and had to give up. Rick ended up removing a ton of timing just so that I could get some traction and a clean run. Still was able to come up with a 10.4. Considering the issues I think there is a lot more potential in it.

Now I get to have fun getting that wheel and stud off...

All is not bad. I was worried that something went really bad by reading your title. 10.4 is nothing to be mad about.

Sorry Curt! Yeah, not too bad of a day...nothing bad broke! Getting the wheel off is the challenge. The stud will just pound out with a big hammer. Your time is looking good for the conditions too. Best I could do last Friday night was a 10.55.

You get spoiled running fast, then anything slower is a disappointment. Especially when you put a lot of work and time into it and spend the extra coin on a rental. We are pushing the limits of stock parts so you hate to waste beating on it with crappy runs.
