Factory put Grease in top Strut Tower/Mount area?
Just removed the Front Struts and found a hard grease in the Strut Tower where the strut Mounts sit. Replacing with Poly mounts - should there be a film of grease in the strut mount tower top area? Maybe this was to reduce creaking while the mount flexes when turning..? Struts have never been out before.

I've never heard of any grease being used. Someone probably probably put a bandaid fix on the actual issue. I'd get some brake clean and wipe it all out of there.

I'll put a bit in mine. It's to prevent squeaks.

Comfortably Numb
When I bought my BMR bushings they came with a packet of grease. There weren't any instructions on where to put it, so I wiped some on the bushings before we slid it into the cup.
In 3 years I still don't have any creaking in the front. Another member on here told me your suppose to put it in dry with no grease.

The steel bushing should be greased and the inside of the washers.
The outside of the bushing is optional.
The stock ones may squeak and the bmr may not.
Won't hurt anything.

huh. strut mount bushes? see they sit under weight - so they shouldn't actually move or rotate. that's what the bearing under the bush is for. you know that plastic piece that has the little balls in it.
now those have grease in them - and the might have leaked out - exploded or whathave you. but you don't need to grease your poly strut tops.
that said - it wouldn't hurt perse either.
I've done 5 so far, 3 GTO's and 2 G8. never greased a one
