that is the way npt threads work , they are tapered and will only go in so far , its how they seal up hopefully the picture works

Newman .. that's how mine is also.. like s/c`d cav said that is the norm. As long as its tight and sealed you are all set. Plus I used Teflon tape to make sure it was all the way sealed. It doesn't hurt any.
