Detroit SCCA Solo event July 22-23 at Silverdome?

I was just wondering if anyone was going to be at the Detroit SCCA Solo event July 22-23 at Silverdome? I'm going to go up Saturday and try to spend most of the afternoon there to learn the ropes and see what it's like.

A co-worker at my office says that I should be able to get a weekend membership and try my car out as long as I have a license and doesn't have the wheels falling off (his description). Anyone ever done something like this? I'm completely green to this stuff. I'd like to do a few events and get some experience under my belt before going to a real track day.

What day/time you thinking of making it up there? I don't have any real idea yet but can plan around meeting you there if you want. Part of me wants to drive, but then part just wants to talk to drivers and do research... I'm kinda torn.

I would love to drive it but will probably just go and watch. No idea on when yet but would like to see some action.
